The Java and KNSM islands
The Java isle is a modern peninsula, situated in the eastern harbor area of Amsterdam. It's an island full antique tour boatof architectural delights. Both the Java isle as well as the KNSM island are joined to the city only by a bridge. The island is also a popular location for concerts and events. The KNSM island is beautifully situated on the IJ and features many marvelous buildings. It has a very mixed population causing a truly cosmopolitan atmosphere, the presence of yachts and house boats on the south side of the isle add to this as well.

The Nieuwendammerdijk
This dike in the North of Amsterdam also comes highly recommended. The history of the Nieuwendammerdijk goes way back. Wooden houses from the 16th century alternate with various churches and houses owned by ship captains from a 100 years later. Right next to this dike lies Tuindorp Nieuwendam. A tangible inheritance of the socialistic opinion from the twenties: decent housing for all laborers, done in the style of the famous Amsterdam School.

Pampus
Pampus is perceived as an adventurous and historic Island. A visit to this place is certainly worth while. The Island was a fortress and on it you'll find lots of information about Dutch forts and how they used water as a defense. It's also possible to take part in survival activities on the Isle.
